Regulatory Counsel – Accident & Health Insurance (Hybrid / Full-Time / In-House)A leading global specialty insurance and reinsurance carrier is adding an in-house counsel to its respected Accident & Health (A&H) legal team. If you enjoy translating complex healthcare and insurance regulations into clear, practical business guidance — and want a seat at the table on new product launches, marketing review, and transactional work — this hybrid in-house lawyer role may be the right next step. You will serve as a day-to-day legal advisor to the U.S. A&H Business Unit, partnering hand-in-hand with Product, Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Actuarial, Finance, and IT, while also collaborating with U.S., Canadian, and cross-functional partners as the A&H business continues to grow internationally.This is a permanent in-house counsel position supporting three A&H business segments: Group Benefits, Specialty Accident & Health, and Pet Insurance. The attorney will provide regulatory advice on U.S. healthcare, insurance, and compliance matters; draft, review, and negotiate A&H insurance and reinsurance transactional agreements (NDAs, program manager agreements, administrative services agreements, letters of credit, security agreements, letters of authority, vendor contracts, third-party claim handling agreements, and similar); review consumer-facing marketing, advertising, enrollment platforms, customer communications, and fulfillment materials; assist with A&H form and rate filings (including responses to Department of Insurance objections); support responses to complaints, regulatory inquiries, and market conduct exams; and manage company and vendor regulatory fraud training and reporting for U.S. legal entities. This is an excellent opportunity for a 3–5 year attorney who wants to grow beyond pure regulatory work into corporate and strategic advisory matters within a sophisticated, collaborative legal team.Basic Requirements for the Regulatory Counsel – Accident & Health:3–5 years of experience in legal or regulatory compliance, ideally with exposure to insurance and/or healthcare regulatory mattersPractical working knowledge of Accident & Health insurance compliance and regulatory requirements, including state and federal healthcare-related laws (e.g., PPACA, ERISA) is strongly preferredFamiliarity with privacy and data security frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, state consumer privacy laws, and emerging AI regulations) is a plusExcellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory concepts into actionable business guidanceProactive, problem-solving approach with the ability to manage a wide range of legal issues across multiple business stakeholdersProficient in legal researchExcellent PC skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suiteJ.D. from an ABA-accredited U.S. law schoolMember in good standing of at least one state bar (Georgia admission or eligible for Georgia in-house registration exemption)Excellent academic credentialsOutstanding professional referencesPosition Details of the Regulatory Counsel – Accident & Health:Type of role: Permanent / Direct HireSchedule: Full-timeLocation: Hybrid – Atlanta, GA metro areaCompensation:Pay: Pay of base and bonus is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, and location.Benefits: In addition to pay, a comprehensive and competitive benefits package is also provided, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; health and wellness programs; retirement plans; tuition reimbursement; paid vacation; and more.ConfidentialityLatitude will not propose you to prospective clients without your prior consent.
