Our client in Iowa City, IA is looking for a Warehouse Associate / Material Handler!

Position Summary: Our client is an established national distributor of wire, cable, and electrical products that has been serving customers since 1976. Their Iowa City distribution center supports customers throughout the Midwest with a large inventory and customized wire and cable solutions. They are currently looking for a dependable and mechanically inclined Warehouse Associate to support daily warehouse and production operations. This position will primarily focus on operating wire cutting, coiling, and spooling equipment to prepare customer orders according to exact specifications. The Warehouse Associate will also inspect finished products, maintain accurate production records, assist with inventory and shipping activities, and help materials move safely and efficiently throughout the warehouse. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, has strong attention to detail, and is comfortable operating machinery in a fast-paced team environment.


Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate wire cutting, coiling, and spooling machinery
• Review work orders and customer specifications before beginning production
• Measure, cut, spool, and package wire according to the required length, size, and quantity
• Adjust machine settings to maintain proper tension, alignment, and coil size
• Monitor equipment throughout the production process to ensure smooth and efficient operation
• Inspect wire and completed coils for damage, defects, incorrect measurements, or other quality concerns
• Label and package completed products accurately for storage or shipment
• Complete production paperwork and accurately record quantities, materials used, downtime, and machine performance
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic preventative maintenance
• Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report larger mechanical concerns to management
• Safely load, unload, move, and store wire coils and other warehouse materials
• Assist with receiving, order preparation, inventory counts, and shipping activities as needed
• Verify that products and materials are stored in the correct warehouse locations
• Maintain a clean, organized, and obstruction-free work area
• Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment
• Communicate with warehouse leadership regarding production concerns, inventory discrepancies, or equipment issues
• Work closely with warehouse team members to meet daily production and shipping deadlines
• Assist with special projects and perform additional warehouse duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous warehouse, manufacturing, machine operation, or wire spooling experience is preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn specialized equipment
• Ability to read and follow work orders, measurements, and detailed customer specifications
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, quality work
• Basic math, measurement, and computer skills
• Ability to perform minor equipment adjustments and basic troubleshooting
• Dependable attendance and the ability to work independently
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to stay organized and adapt to changing priorities
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment
• Valid drivers license is REQUIRED

Hours:

• Monday - Friday
• 8am - 5pm

Pay:

• $18/hour
