Job Details

Position: Pathologist Locum Tenens Physician
Location: Dixon, Illinois
Setting: On-site pathology coverage
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Coverage Type: Temporary locum tenens physician assignment
Duration: 13 weeks
Estimated Weekly Pay: $6,820 - $7,310
Call Expectations: Possible night call and 24-hour weekend call coverage
Overtime: No overtime

Job Requirements

Board certification in Pathology
Active medical license and eligibility to practice in Illinois
At least 1 year of pathology experience preferred
Strong experience with grossing, cytology, and general pathology case review
Ability to work independently and manage caseload efficiently
Excellent communication skills for collaboration with clinicians and healthcare teams
Comfortable supporting on-call coverage when needed

Responsibilities

Review and sign out pathology cases accurately and in a timely manner
Perform grossing on surgical specimens, including small biopsies with support from histotechs
Answer clinician questions and provide pathology consultation support
Review and interpret peripheral blood smears as needed
Address blood bank issues, including transfusion reactions and transfusion-related comments
Perform cellular adequacy checks for FNA and CT-guided biopsies
Provide night call coverage and respond to urgent cases as needed
