Insurance Services is the largest division within the agency and administers one of the premier workers' compensation organizations in the nation serving over 3.8 million employees working for 260,000 employers. L&I's Support Services Program houses seven production units serving several programs throughout the agency. Our production units are responsible for processing a wide variety of information quickly and efficiently. The information processed by these teams is utilized by other agency employees for their work which directly supports our agency mission "To Keep Washington Safe and Working." This announcement represents multiple opportunities. Work schedules will very between the hours of 6 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will be assigned. - Work closely with a trainer designated to teach you the essential job duties.
- Complete training within the agreed timeframe.
- Successfully use tools and resources provided to you to research, identify and key in documentation for our customers through various L&I specific programs and processes.
- Meet production expectations and accuracy levels on a daily basis.
Depending on the unit you're assigned to, the following are highlights of those duties.
- Preform rapid data entry; process work injury and accident reports.
- Decipher handwriting and transcribe information submitted by injured workers and medical providers.
- Conduct research to establish/verify employer/employee relationship.
- Pre-scanning; preparing documents for scanning.
- Scanning; inputting information into a computer program and operating a high-speed document scanner.
- Indexing; use a variety of rules, procedures and research tools to enter appropriate information into a computer.
- Create new master data files when workers file initial claim. Update master data files for all existing workers.
- Utilize provided tools and resources to search and locate requested claim files.
- Respond respectfully and professionally to emails and phone calls from internal and external customers, if applicable.
- Depending on the business needs, daily tasks may vary to meet customer/business expectations.
Required:
- Individuals with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to type 40 WPM at 98% accuracy
- Two years of computer skills/experience, clerical experience, or equivalent education.
