Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to support utility billing operations. This individual will manage billing adjustments, rebills, and exception processing while ensuring compliance with utility tariffs, customer classifications, regulatory requirements, and internal controls. The Billing Specialist will also perform quality assurance reviews of managed service provider activities and assist with resolving billing-related issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Process utility billing transactions, including bill adjustments, corrections, and rebills.
• Review customer accounts, usage data, billing determinants, and account configurations for accuracy.
• Apply tariff schedules, rate structures, and customer classifications in accordance with company policies.
• Investigate and resolve routine billing exceptions and discrepancies.
• Respond to customer billing inquiries and provide timely issue resolution.
• Perform quality assurance checks on managed service provider billing activities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, audit standards, and internal billing controls.
• Monitor billing processes and identify opportunities for improved accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide guidance and review support to managed service provider teams as needed.
• Maintain detailed documentation of billing adjustments and account updates.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of utility billing, customer billing, or related experience.
• Understanding of utility tariffs, rate schedules, customer classes, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience processing billing adjustments, rebills, and exception management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and billing/account management systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
