Redmont Health and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and detail-oriented Central Intake Coordinator to join our growing skilled nursing team in Birmingham, Alabama . This position plays a critical role in managing referrals, coordinating admissions, and serving as a key communication link between hospitals, providers, families, and our interdisciplinary care team.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience in healthcare admissions, intake coordination, case management, or skilled nursing preferred
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and insurance authorization processes preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office
• High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare-related education preferred

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate incoming referrals and admissions for the skilled nursing facility
• Review referral documentation for completeness, insurance coverage, and clinical appropriateness
• Communicate with hospitals, case managers, physicians, families, and internal departments regarding admission status and bed availability
• Collaborate with nursing leadership and clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient transitions
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain required authorizations when applicable
• Maintain accurate records in electronic medical record systems and admission tracking tools
• Coordinate transportation and admission logistics as needed
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, HIPAA regulations, and payer requirements
• Support census development and customer service initiatives
