This role will be responsible for the design, administration, performance optimization, and lifecycle management of Oracle databases and APEX/ORDS platforms supporting critical business applications.The successful candidate will work closely with DBA, middleware, and application teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security of systems across development, QA, and production environments.Key ResponsibilitiesOracle Database AdministrationManage and maintain Oracle databases (19c and newer) across multiple environmentsPerform database installations, upgrades, patching, and migrationsImplement backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery solutionsMonitor database performance and tune SQL, memory, and storageManage database security, roles, and access controlsSupport PDB/CDB architecture, and database consolidation strategiesOracle APEX / ORDS AdministrationInstall, configure, and upgrade Oracle APEX and ORDS environmentsManage APEX schemas, users, and workspace configurationsSupport APEX application deployments and lifecycle managementTroubleshoot APEX performance, session management, and runtime issuesConfigure ORDS connections, pools, and security integrationSupport integration between APEX and enterprise systems (e.g., APIs, EBS, middleware)Environment & Infrastructure ManagementManage multi-environment setups (DEV, QA, PROD)Support WebLogic or application server configurations for APEX/ORDSCoordinate database and application upgrades with cross-functional teamsMaintain environment consistency and deployment standardsSupport capacity planning and performance testing initiativesOperational Support & TroubleshootingProvide Tier 3 support for database and APEX incidentsTroubleshoot complex issues including:Database performance degradationAPEX application errorsORDS connectivity and configuration issuesMonitor system health and proactively resolve issuesParticipate in on-call rotations and incident responseAutomation & Process ImprovementDevelop automation scripts for deployments, monitoring, and maintenanceImprove DBA operational processes and documentationContribute to CI/CD pipelines for database and APEX deploymentsEnsure compliance with security and audit requirementsWorking knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL ServerExperience with PostgreSQL and MySQL is nice to haveAdditional ResponsibilitiesDevelop automation scripts for deployments, monitoring, and maintenanceImprove DBA operational processes and documentationContribute to CI/CD pipelines for database and APEX deploymentsEnsure compliance with security and audit requirementsRequired Qualifications5–10+ years of Oracle Database Administration experienceStrong experience with Oracle APEX and ORDS administrationDeep knowledge of: - Oracle 19c+ database architecturePL/SQL, performance tuning, and troubleshootingExperience with: - Linux/Unix environmentsBackup/recovery strategies (RMAN)Database upgrades and migrationsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex environmentsPreferred QualificationsExperience with:Oracle Data GuardWebLogic or similar middleware platformsIntegration with enterprise systems (EBS, APIs, identity management)Knowledge of cloud platforms (OCI preferred)Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools and automation frameworksExperience supporting APEX in high-availability, multi-instance environmentsSoft SkillsStrong communication and cross-team collaborationAbility to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior DBAsDetail-oriented with strong ownership mindset (important for production stability)Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentPay Range:• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario-$89,200.00 - $129,300.00 Annually• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$94,600.00 - $137,100.00 AnnuallyPay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
