Courier/Swing Drvr/CDL-1

Operates company vehicles and provides courteous and efficient delivery and pick up of packages; checks shipments for conformance to FedEx features of service; provides coverage for all assigned routes within the station's service area and performs related customer service functions, including the delivery, pick up or shuttle of dangerous goods packages that require the vehicle to be placarded. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education High school diploma/GED. Minimum Experience Six (6) months courier experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated area knowledge. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs with appropriate equipment or assistance from another person. Good human relations and verbal communication skills. Thorough knowledge of the station's service area preferred. Demonstrated skills in adaptability, dependability and excellent courier methods. Must meet and maintain the qualifications outlined in the federal motor carrier safety regulations. Must pass all FedEx Express and regulatory/statutory required background checks or security threat assessments. Must be at least 21 years of age. Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials and respond to official inquiries and directions per FMCSA enforcement guidance. Job Conditions FMCSA covered sensitive safety position; medical exam required; subject to regulatory alcohol and drug testing, which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine, and opioids. Requires constant alertness and safe operation. Must obtain and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and hazardous materials endorsement (HME) for the vehicle type assigned, with a clean driving record as outlined in policy. Neat appearance required for customer contact. Preferred Qualifications Desired location: Middletown, PA. Employees will work at the FedEx location five days a week.
