Fire Alarm Inspector

This position is responsible for performing building fire alarm inspections, including testing devices, recording and generating results, and providing reports. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Ensure that all inspections are completed on a timely basis and that inspections are done accurately and thoroughly. Test all building fire alarm control panels, devices, and functions of the fire alarm system and enter the test results into the Palm handheld device. Upon completion of an inspection download the information and generate a completed Fire Alarm Inspection Report. Participate in monthly team meetings. Perform other duties assigned by management. Education and Qualifications College degree preferred; however, a high school diploma or equivalent is acceptable with acceptable experience. Study and learn NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems. Stay current with code requirements, industry changes, and obtain NICET certifications. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and be customer service oriented. Must be able and willing to work within a team environment. Required Skills Experience with fire alarm systems is preferred but not required. Proficiency in using test equipment including sensitivity test equipment, multimeters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communication devices. Good PC skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Palm unit operating systems. Must be punctual; being on time is critical due to the need to perform sound tests prior to building tenant arrivals. Ability to be on the phone and computer consistently throughout the day. Other Duties Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Industrial, commercial, and residential building environment with moderate to high noise levels. Comfort with working at heights. Mostly a physically demanding role. Most of the daily demand is standing, walking stairs, and climbing ladders. May need to lift objects up to 50 pounds. Pay Rate $25 to $35 hourly based on experience.
