Position Summary

The Training and Coaching Coordinator is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating comprehensive training programs and providing one-on-one coaching to all teaching staff, advocates, and PEA/FEAs. This role involves developing learning plans and workshops to improve performance and professional development.

Core Functional Responsibilities

 

General Consultation and Coaching

• Plans and supports the Early Head Start Team in creating a yearly Training Plan and Calendar.
• Supports Service Area Teams in finding qualified trainers and creating a training list for future trainings.
• Supports Service Area Teams in creating sign-in sheets and tracking staff training for completion.
• Creates a yearly training calendar and follows up with staff to notify them of upcoming trainings.
• Creates a tracking system for all trainings and certifications with expiration/renewal dates.
• Enrolls all newly hired Advocates and FEAs in Parents as Teachers training and monitors and renews all Advocates and FEAs for yearly PAT renewals
• Enrolls and renews Child Development Associate certification for new staff and existing teachers, advocates, and FEAs as needed.

Staff Training

• Strengthens Advocate and PEA/FEAs skills by providing/locating professional development opportunities.
• Strengthens teaching staff’s skills through professional development, in collaboration with the Child Care Partnership Manager and Center Base Manager and visits each classroom in South Philadelphia and Partner Sites weekly.
• Tracks trainings in Relias and marks trainings as complete for EHS staff.
• Tracks newly hired staff through the onboarding process to ensure all 90-day training courses are being completed, and certificates are being uploaded to Relias.
• Supports staff with the Relias platform for training.
• Supports all newly hired staff with completing all components of Core Competencies
• Communicates with Service Area Directors when staff needs additional support or specific training.
• Provides perspective on training courses that need to be added each year.

Staff Coaching

• Ensures adherence to Head Start Performance Standards and high-quality education services by conducting classroom and home visit observations for teachers, FEAs, Advocates, and Partner Site Teachers.
• Supports and observes staff to promote fidelity to the classroom and home visiting curriculum
• Creates documents to assess staff during observations and through coaching sessions. Documents each observation, assessment, and meeting with staff.
• Supports teachers, advocates, and FEA/PEAs through the Coaching Cycle and by providing resources to enhance staff knowledge.
• Provides coaching support for newly hired teachers, advocates, and FEAs for the first 90 days.
• Attends group socializations at South Philadelphia/Norristown/Pottstown monthly to provide coaching support to staff.

Programmatic Consultation

• Serves as a key member of the Education Service Area Team and participates in all Education Team Meetings.
• Attends and participates in all monthly meetings, including but not limited to Supervision, Service Area Meetings, Management Meetings, and Site Team Meetings.
• Supports and attends School Readiness Task Force Meetings with counterparts to ensure children’s progress toward school readiness goals and to support staff with school readiness needs.
• Provides orientation for the Training and Coaching Service Area for all EHS Staff and for Partner Site Teachers.
• Develops service area guidelines, policies, and procedures in keeping with the Head Start Performance Standards and reviews annually.
• Supports, as needed, South Philadelphia in classroom coverage.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Understanding MCC’s Mission, goals, and objectives and ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of the larger team.
• Expert knowledge of the concepts and practices associated with community health and early childhood education issues, particularly with pregnant women, prenatal care, child development, parenting, and other services for mothers, young children, and their families.
• Ability to travel in and around Montgomery County/Philadelphia Region to provide services as needed.

• Knowledge of and sensitivity to the issues facing the community served as well as knowledge of community resources.
• Knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of child development, health service delivery systems, and parent involvement in early childhood.
• Experience in staff training and child services delivery systems.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and as a member of a team.
• Ability to collaborate with other agencies.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Good record-keeping and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills (comfortable with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

Experience, Education, and Licensure

Experience

• Five-plus   years’ experience working in early childhood education settings preferred.
• Experience in program planning and monitoring

Education

• Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field required.

Maternity Care Coalition operates as a hybrid organization. The assigned work arrangement for this position may include a combination of remote and onsite work and will be determined based on operational needs, role responsibilities, and performance. Work arrangement expectations may be modified over time to meet organizational or programmatic requirements. Staff working remotely are responsible for maintaining a safe and appropriate workspace.

• Ability to engage in extended periods of sitting, computer work, and sustained concentration to complete financial analysis, reporting, and related tasks.
• Ability to occasionally bend, reach, lift, carry, push, or pull training materials or equipment, generally not exceeding thirty pounds.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence and the ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle record check, where driving is an essential function of the role.
• Ability to travel occasionally to attend conferences, seminars, and professional meetings.
• Ability to work non‑traditional hours on an occasional basis based on operational needs.
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of required post‑offer pre‑employment background clearances, as well as any additional post‑hire background, compliance, or programmatic clearances required by the organization, funders, or applicable regulations.
• This role supports compliance for regulated funding streams, including Early Head Start, through timely financial reporting, audit readiness, and escalation of material risks to executive leadership.

Competitive Salaries:

• Anticipated Hiring Salary : $63,000.00 based on qualifications and experience.
• Salary Range: $49,746.00 - $66,328.00 ; Employees may become eligible for compensation increases within the salary range over time, consistent with performance, market conditions, internal equity, and business needs.
