Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Injection Molding

Medtronic seeks a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership for injection molding operations at its Brooklyn Center facility. The role involves designing manufacturing processes, qualifying molds, troubleshooting complex technical challenges, and mentoring engineering teams to support production of critical medical device components.
Responsibilities
- Design manufacturing processes, layouts, and operation sequences for molded component production
- Qualify new and existing molds and lead process validation and equivalency activities
- Troubleshoot complex molding, tooling, and manufacturing process issues
- Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams on design concepts and manufacturing techniques
- Mentor engineering staff and drive strategic initiatives to advance manufacturing capability
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 7+ years relevant manufacturing experience
- Master's degree with 5+ years relevant experience, or PhD with 3+ years
- Deep expertise in injection molding process development and troubleshooting
- Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (medical device, pharmaceutical, electronics)
- Knowledge of statistical process control, design of experiments, or process optimization
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and mentoring engineers
- Strong communication and technical decision-influencing skills
