Inpatient obstetric care unit setting providing coordinated nursing care to a patient or assigned group of patients according to established standards and the nursing process. Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient or assigned group of patients in the labor and delivery area according to the nursing process and established standards.
- Supervise and direct activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff; delegate tasks appropriately and monitor performance.
- Coordinate care with obstetric physicians, anesthesia, and other disciplines; communicate changes in patient status clearly and promptly.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, administer medications and procedures within scope, respond to obstetric emergencies, and employ evidence-based practices.
- Document comprehensive assessments, care plans, progress notes, and patient education; maintain accurate records and ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Utilize critical thinking, professional discretion, and independent judgment to optimize patient outcomes and support family-centered care.

Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California
- Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional obstetric-related credentials preferred
- Experience: 1+ year of RN experience in labor and delivery/OB settings preferred
- Qualifications: Ability to work in an inpatient obstetric care environment; strong communication and teamwork skills
