Position Summary Senior Attorney – Guardian ad Litem Office, 12th Circuit. The role provides independent legal representation to abused, abandoned, and neglected children in Florida’s dependency court proceedings. Key Responsibilities Work under supervision of the Managing Attorney, representing children and collaborating with a multi‑disciplinary team including child welfare professionals and community volunteers. Review case files to identify legal issues and conduct independent investigations of facts. Research, develop, and implement legal strategies for cases, file pleadings and motions, and attend court proceedings such as hearings, depositions, and mediations. Advocate, negotiate, and represent assigned children inside and outside the courtroom. Assist other Guardian ad Litem Attorneys in developing case strategies and perform additional duties as assigned by management. Maintain confidentiality and handle extremely sensitive issues with discretion. Qualifications Admission to The Florida Bar and possession of legal skills sufficient to represent children in dependency law. Knowledge of juvenile law, relevant rules of procedure and evidence, and guardian ad litem representation. Strong trial skills preferred. Effective communication with individuals from culturally and economically diverse backgrounds. Proficiency in computer software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Valid Florida Driver’s License. Graduation from an accredited law school, membership in the Florida Bar, and two years of experience in dependency or related law (exception possible with executive approval). Benefits Salary: $68,319.44 (state‑determined). Total compensation (salary + benefits) valued at a minimum of $93,137.24.
