Job Title: Attorney (Attorney I - III) Organization: Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) Location: 1701 N Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78701 Job Type: Regular, Exempt; State Job Code 3502, 3503, 3504 Salary: $6,667.00 - $9,625.00 monthly (Grade 22 B24, B26) Number of Openings: 2 Responsibilities Perform entry‑level to highly complex legal work related to electric, telecommunications, and water and sewer utility regulation. Research and analyze legal and regulatory issues; draft and review pleadings, orders, and memoranda; assist with compliance and enforcement matters; support agency advocacy in proceedings before SOAH and the Commission. Qualifications Attorney I: Graduated from an accredited law school, licensed by the State Bar of Texas, eligible to practice in Texas. Attorney II: Same as Attorney I plus at least two years of full‑time legal experience as a licensed attorney. Attorney III: Same as Attorney I plus at least three years of full‑time legal experience as a licensed attorney, preferably in utility regulation or administrative law. Preferred Qualifications Internship or professional experience in electric, telecommunications, or water and wastewater utilities, or in a regulatory state agency. Experience in administrative law or litigation. Experience drafting legal documents such as memoranda, briefs, or pleadings. Experience appearing before SOAH or participating in contested proceedings. Other Information Veteran’s Preference: veterans, reservists, or guardsmen with qualifying MOS encouraged to apply.
