PPG Diag Medical Sonographer

Summary Operates diagnostic sonography equipment and performs diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with department policy and procedures. Works within the "Practice Standards" and "Code of Ethics" of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Works together with physicians to perform a variety of specialized procedures. Sets up and adjusts equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, and possesses knowledge of imaging various anatomical structures. Positions patients to obtain images of the area of interest while respecting the patient’s ability and comfort. Obtains appropriate patient information for the procedure being completed. Utilizes PPE and other guidelines as needed. Recognizes emergent situations and activates assistance as needed. Assists other areas and shifts as needed. Education Satisfactory completion of formal technology training. License / Certification Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in ultrasound (ARRT ultrasound) and must obtain valid certification within 12 months of graduation from an approved ultrasound training program or completion of approved cross‑training. Encourage advanced certifications. CPR certification. Experience Previous experience in ultrasound preferred, but not required, or previous experience in a similar role. Other Qualifications Must be able to lift 50 lbs.; 100 lbs. shared lifting. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Must be able to take a call.
