Senior Systems Engineer - Power Electronics & High Voltage

LER TechForce is looking for power electronics and high voltage systems engineer. The Power Electronics & High Voltage Systems engineer is responsible for diagnosing, testing, and supporting advanced electrical systems with a strong emphasis on high voltage components, power electronics, and hands on troubleshooting. This role requires deep technical capability rather than project management oversight, with daily work centered on practical problem solving, system validation, and component level analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of power electronics and rotating machinery systems, including motors, rotors, bearings, and associated mechanical/electrical interfaces.
• Support installation, validation, and maintenance of high-voltage components, ensuring compliance with insulation resistance requirements and safety standards.
• Capture, interpret, and analyze CAN bus data, including J1939 communication, using tools such as P-CAN Explorer, CANalyzer, and CANape.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve electrical and mechanical issues affecting system performance.
• Document findings, test results, and corrective actions with clarity and technical accuracy.
• Contribute to system-level improvements through root-cause analysis and component-level insights.
• Investigates electronic application and systems problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members.
• Applies and improves electronic application and systems development processes and tools. Processes include system specification, modeling and simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting. Application of tools for simulation, calibration, and product life maintenance required.
• Makes decisions in the areas of electronic and electrical system design, requirements, calibration, and test that impact the quality and performance of calibrated subsystems and feature classes of electronic subsystems.
• Delivers independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge.
• Provides support and guidance to influence technical direction within a project team and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.

• Product Verification and Validation Management - Develops product systems validation plans from a variety of inputs to identify failure modes, while managing product risk and relative priority; negotiates product requirements against capability to guide project scope; evaluates analytical, simulation and physical test results to verify product capability and validate requirements; assesses legacy versus proposed system solution capabilities and produces recommendations with technical documentation to support product decisions.
• System Requirements Engineering - Uses appropriate methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed; establishes acceptance criteria for the system of interest through analysis, allocation and negotiation; tracks the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle; assesses the impact of changes to system requirements on project scope, schedule, and resources; creates and maintains information linkages to related artifacts.
• Systems Thinking - Defines the system of interest by drawing the boundaries, identifying its context within its environment, its interfaces, and that it has a lifecycle to aid in planning the problem statement, scope and deliverables ; analyzes linkages and interactions between elements that comprise the system of interest by using appropriate methods, models and integration of outcomes to understand the system, predict its behavior and devise modifications to it in order to produce the desired effects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in related field, like Electrical engineering with strong foundational understanding of circuits, high-voltage systems, and power electronics.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience working directly with hardware—this is not a project-management role.
• Proficiency in interpreting CAN traces and working with J1939 protocols.
• Ability to work with mechanical subsystems such as motors, rotors, and bearings, understanding their interaction with electrical components.
• Experience evaluating insulation resistance and other high-voltage safety metrics. Desired Qualifications
• Mechanical engineering exposure or hybrid electrical-mechanical background.
• Experience with OBD diagnostics, including fault interpretation and emissions-related communication protocols.
• Familiarity with system-level testing environments and multi-disciplinary engineering workflows
