Job Title: Vehicle Upfit Technician Job Description

The Vehicle Upfit Technician is responsible for the proper installation, operation, and quality of van and truck-mounted equipment. This role involves hands-on assembly, electrical work, and mechanical installation in a shop environment, ensuring all equipment is installed safely, accurately, and in accordance with job specifications.

• Read and interpret job orders to plan work procedures and determine required materials, tools, and installation steps.
• Install van, truck, and trailer-mounted equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
• Document all work performed in an accurate and timely manner, maintaining clear records of installations and any modifications.
• Use hand tools and air-operated power tools safely and proficiently to perform mechanical and assembly tasks.
• Install and troubleshoot basic 12VDC electrical components, including wiring and electrical assemblies.
• Perform electrical wiring and connections to ensure proper operation of installed equipment.
• Apply welding skills and minor fabrication techniques as needed to support equipment installation and mounting.
• Lift and move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds as part of daily installation activities.
• Maintain a high level of workmanship quality, ensuring all installations meet safety and performance standards.
• Follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines while working indoors and outdoors.
• Move vehicles within the yard, including driving on gravel surfaces, to position them for installation work.

• Proficiency in the safe use of hand tools and air-operated power tools for mechanical and assembly work.
• Ability to install and troubleshoot basic 12VDC electrical components.
• Experience with electrical wiring and electrical assembly in an automotive or equipment installation environment.
• Capability to perform welding and minor fabrication tasks to support equipment mounting and installation.
• Ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds of materials and equipment.
• Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company standards.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Experience in installation of commercial truck, van, and/or trailer-mounted equipment or equivalent related experience.

• Prior hands-on experience using a variety of hand tools and power tools.
• Background in mechanical assembly, electrical installation, or automotive upfitting.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to read and follow job orders, diagrams, and installation instructions.
• Strong documentation skills for recording work performed and any issues encountered.
• Positive attitude, integrity, and a focus on safety in a shop and yard environment.

This role is based in a shop installation setting that includes both indoor and outdoor work. The technician works with vans, trucks, and trailers in a gravel yard, and regularly moves vehicles around the facility. The position involves daily use of hand tools, air-operated power tools, welding equipment, and electrical wiring tools. The standard shift runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing a consistent daytime schedule. Work is hands-on and physical, including lifting materials up to 50 pounds and working around vehicles and equipment in an active shop environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Fort Worth, TX.

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $52000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
