School Occupational Therapist - Ferndale, Washington

Step into a rewarding contract role providing vital Occupational Therapy services to middle and high school students in a supportive educational setting. You'll devote 30 hours per week at a single site, managing a manageable caseload of no more than 20 students. Your expertise will help shape the academic journey of a diverse group that includes a significant Native American population, with most students requiring support in self-regulation and fine-motor skills under specially designed instruction guidelines.


Collaboration is key here-you'll work closely with another part-time Occupational Therapist, who is onsite full days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and highly invested in team-based solutions. This collegial atmosphere fosters both professional growth and creative problem-solving, letting you make a real impact while also having a go-to peer for brainstorming and support.


Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
• Active state licensure as an Occupational Therapist
• Prior experience in a school setting, particularly with middle and/or high school populations, is highly desirable
• Strong background in supporting students with fine-motor and self-regulation needs
• Experience or interest in working with Native American youth is a plus
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments and develop individualized goals for students on your caseload
• Implement therapy interventions focusing on fine-motor skills, sensory processing, and self-regulation strategies
• Collaborate with educational staff and family members to support each student's progress
• Participate in IEP meetings and provide documentation in accordance with school guidelines
• Share knowledge and partner on strategies with the other onsite OT
