Operations Supervisor

Operations Supervisor Shift 1: 8am – 5pm; Monday‑Friday. Ability to be flexible with time is expected. Position Summary The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement. Effectively keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect operations. Ensure the development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably according to company policies. Manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals, complying with client terms. Implement and report ongoing cost‑saving measures; provide ideas for more efficient operations. Meet all client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements. Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create fair supervision programs, counsel, and where needed discipline team members. Assist in creating programs for hiring, training, and professional development; participate in the performance evaluation system for promotions and salary increases. Provide overall training and evaluation responsibilities for warehouse staff. Plan the daily work schedule by reviewing existing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions. Assess priorities based on time sensitivity and available resources; assign duties to appropriate staff. Review pending jobs or trends, plan for reorganization of warehouse space, and adjust supplies, equipment, or staffing levels. Train new staff or delegate training responsibilities; assess trainee progress. Keep informed of quantity and quality of jobs performed, providing guidance and advice as necessary. Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members acting as leads for lower‑level staff; monitor progress or problems. Keep manager advised of progress or issues requiring attention daily; hold regular meetings with staff to assess status and discuss improvement ideas. Assist with physical operations as needed. Deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time. Maintain high motivation among team members to focus on customer satisfaction. Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members. Conduct annual performance reviews for team members. Support adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) (corporate and client). Support and train team members on SOP compliance. Skills & Abilities Education & Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Three years of experience in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment. One year of supervisory experience. Preferred: MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations Successful completion of a forklift training program. Computer Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). RF scanners. WMS functions. Language Skills Business communication. Mathematical Skills Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities, count inventory, or perform other related tasks. Other Skills Strong attention to detail, accuracy and timely execution. Good organizational and personnel skills. Good communication skills, written and oral. Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills. Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends. Participate in cross‑training metrics activities and assist as a backup when needed. Adapt to change and thrive in a fast‑paced environment. Work overtime as required by business. Actual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location under applicable laws.
