So if you are interested in a career creating breakthrough software and making an impact on an audience of millions, look no further.Software Engineer II designs, develops, tests, and debugs software applications, contributes to software builds, completes code reviews and automated testing to maintain high-quality standards with guidance, supports and monitors software across environments, and adheres to security and regulatory best practices.ResponsibilitiesAdvances the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications and systemsDrives the modification, documentation, and maintenance of software to ensure high reliability and availabilityCollaborates with cross-functional teams to address advanced technical challenges and optimize application performanceAnalyzes system requirements and delivers innovative technical solutions to enhance software quality and efficiencyCompletes code reviews and automated testing to maintain high-quality code standardsCollaborates and co-creates effectively with teams in product and the business to align technology initiatives with business objectivesApplies AI tools to improve software design, coding, and testing practices and identifies opportunities to embed AI into development workflows while validating AI-generated recommendations prior to implementation and maintaining accountability for outputsGuides team members on effective use of AI-assisted development toolsQualificationsDegree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field.Minimum 5 years of software development experience in a professional environment working with Java technologies - Vertx, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful micro services, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Kafka, Python, IntelliJ, Couchbase, OpenSearchand RESTful API’s.Hands-on experience with application design, software development and automated testingExperience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, relational or NoSQL databases.Ability to effectively interpret technical and business objectives and challenges and eloquent solutions.Ability to learn and investigate new technology and business domains, question status quo and think outside of the box.Ability to debug basic software components and identify code defects for remediation.Experience working in Agile or other rapid application development methods.Experience in automation testing and documentation (i.e. automated, functional, and performance) and related technologies (Karate, Postman, Cucumber, Playwright, Selenium, Jenkins, Github Actions).Build automated CICD Pipelines with quality gates, test-automation and automated approvals.Working experience of Public Cloud and related technologies (AWS, GCP, Kubernetes).Experience in leveraging and building Agent Skills and prompt engineering.Proficient oral and written communication skills.Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.About the TeamAt American Express, our culture is built on a 175-year history of innovation,shared valuesand Leadership Behaviors, and an unwavering commitment to back our customers, communities, and colleagues.
