Under the direction of pharmacy leadership, oversees the daily operations of pharmacy services to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. Provides leadership, guidance, and support to pharmacy staff while fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment. Partners with department leadership to establish and implement short- and long-term departmental goals, policies, and procedures, and promotes operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement.

Essential Functions:

• Provides leadership, guidance, and mentorship to pharmacy staff while serving as a role model and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Supervises and directs the daily operations of pharmacy services, including scheduling, staffing assignments, and workflow coordination.
• Serves as a resource on pharmacy policies, procedures, and best practices for pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff.
• Participates in the department's on-call rotation, as assigned.
• Supports staff development through coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
• Assists with the recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and training of new employees.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures.
• Plans and facilitates educational programs, in-service training, and staff meetings to promote professional development and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy Pharmacy required.

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.

Licenses and Credentials: MA Pharmacist License.

Experience: 3-5 years of related experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Must have excellent verbal, written and quantitative skills.

- Displays a comprehensive knowledge of department operations.

- Shows knowledge of the pharmacology of drugs and legal aspects of dispensing.

- Demonstrate interpersonal skills to educate and supervise staff, normally acquired after a three to five years of related hospital experience in a progressive, large health care organization and through self-directed education.

- Can work accurately and make decisions under stress and with time constraints.

- Strong attention to detail.
