PARALEGAL SPECIALIST | Offices-to-go This is a full‑time, non‑supervisory 2‑year term appointment in the competitive service with the Antitrust Division (ATR), located in Washington, DC. The Litigation Program focuses on building and enhancing litigation readiness across criminal and civil enforcement programs within the division. The Tone As a Paralegal Specialist, this role is critical to supporting experienced litigators, trial advisors, and investigative teams by providing essential legal and administrative support throughout the litigation process. The specialist will contribute to significant cases by managing documentation, conducting research, and providing leadership to junior paralegals. TL;DR Role: Specialist Type: Full‑time, 2‑year term (may be extended up to 4 years) Location: In‑person, Washington, DC Team: Litigation Program, reporting to attorneys, often leading junior paralegals. Mission: Enhance litigation readiness and support criminal and civil enforcement programs through comprehensive paralegal functions. Tech Stack: Relativity What You’ll Actually Do Document Analysis: Review, code, categorize, and analyze electronic and hard copy documents according to case priorities using specified platforms. Legal Research & Drafting: Perform legal or factual research and draft memoranda to supply factual information for inclusion in various legal documents. Interview Assistance: Assist attorneys and/or law enforcement partners in conducting interviews with investigative sources and prospective witnesses. File Management & Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with attorneys and/or law enforcement agents to collect and track investigative files, including search warrants and subpoenaed documents. Paralegal Team Leadership: Proactively assist and provide guidance to lower‑grade paralegals, acting as the first point of contact and distributing assignments on behalf of staff attorneys. The Must-Haves Background: This role requires specialized experience equivalent to a GS‑9 level (for GS‑11) in legal support, specifically within litigation programs, or relevant graduate education. Candidates should possess core domain knowledge in antitrust litigation processes. Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS‑9 level (for GS‑11) demonstrating proficiency in auditing investigative files for discovery production, preparing witnesses for court or grand jury, coordinating document review protocols, expertise in electronic document production, and working with document review platforms like Relativity, along with providing guidance to junior paralegals.
