Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU

Job Overview Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Perianesthesia (PACU) team at University of Minnesota Medical Center West Bank Campus and Masonic Children's Hospital, located on the West Bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, MN. We are seeking a hardworking and motivated Registered Nurse to join our PACU team, which includes nursing assistants, schedulers, instrument technicians, and MDs. The PACU RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned Perianesthesia (pre- and post-op) patients. The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, and professional practice guidelines. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate. Schedule: This PACU nursing position will be working 60 hours every two weeks on the night shift, 12 hour shifts (7pm-7:30 am), with every other Friday. No holidays and no call. About the OR at UMMC West Bank Our partnership with the University of Minnesota Medical School and University of Minnesota Physicians provides the platform to specialize in breakthrough treatments, surgical techniques, lifesaving therapies and to train tomorrow's physicians. Clinical trials advance our clinical services, bringing the very newest insights in patient care. UMMC West Bank is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Minnesota and in turn has students, residents, fellows placed in this OR daily. The West Bank has 15 operating rooms, 1 EP Lab, 1 Cath Lab serving an average of 36 cases per day. We provide innovative surgical suites for adult and pediatric patients and are currently renovating additional OR's to complement the existing 4 larger OR's. Surgeries in this unit are team based among these specialties:Ortho/Spine/Oral (mainly adults),Peds CV-Hearts/Cardio Thoracic, Peds Neuro/Generals/Urology/Bariatrics, Peds Transplant, Adult Urology, GYN, ENT/Eye/Plastics, Peds Dental and Da Vinci Robotics. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate. Responsibilities Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes. Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs. Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes. Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes. Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP) Required Qualifications MN Registered Nurse (RN) License Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) A minimum of two years current (within the last six months) RN PACU experience. ACLS and PALS certification required.
