Technical Designer (Project Hire/Internal Assignment)

Role Description Through innovative storytelling and collaboration, Disney Live Entertainment crafts, produces, and delivers remarkable and engaging entertainment experiences across theme parks, resort hotels, cruise ships, and other locations worldwide. The Technical Designer (Project Hire/Internal Assignment) plays a pivotal role in the operational and entertainment costume production process, ensuring that multiple vendors meet garment standards and that vendor communications are accurate and complete. Responsibilities Lead garment review sessions, collaborating with designers and buyers to translate fit and aesthetic details. Provide guidance to pattern makers to ensure consistency of process and product. Offer technical direction in collaboration with peer teams, leadership, and vendors on specs, pattern, construction methods, and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall garment quality. Maintain fit consistency for the product and ensure standard grade rules are applied to each garment. Oversee tech packs from development to pre‑production of assigned departments and additional product classifications as directed. Anticipate and resolve fit‑process issues, partnering with vendors to maintain standards and timelines. Attend weekly cross‑functional team meetings, raising any vendor, quality, or timeline concerns. Collaborate with leaders to enhance and evolve processes and procedures, driving product quality improvements. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in patternmaking and apparel production. Experience developing technical packs that represent the product to vendors. Experience working closely with vendors/manufacturers to ensure the best product outcome. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Product Lifecycle Management software, and Gerber/Lectra software products. Strong understanding of fit, balance, pattern, fabrics, and how these attributes contribute to garment aesthetics and function. Experience managing timelines and problem‑solving or conflict resolution. Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with ability to communicate (verbal and written) with partners at all levels. Ability to work across locations, flexible hours (including weekends, nights, holidays), and travel domestically up to 20% and internationally up to 5%. Preferred Qualifications Valid passport for international business travel. Experience in the entertainment industry and leadership experience. Familiarity with Yunique, Flex PLM, Smartsheet, Primavera, CLO, and/or CAD/CAM. Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and project management experience. Advanced degree in an apparel‑related field. The base pay will be based on internal equity and may vary based on candidate geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
