Bookkeeper (Construction Industry)

Zalar Homes is a high-end custom home builder and remodel company seeking a detail-oriented

Bookkeeper with construction experience to join our team. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financials across multiple active projects and supporting day-to-day office operations.

Position Overview

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing subcontractor invoices, client billing, and company overhead expenses. The ideal candidate understands construction accounting workflows, is highly organized, and can operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple moving parts.

Key Responsibilities

• Process, review, and track all incoming subcontractor invoices
• Prepare and issue client invoices in alignment with project progress and cost-plus structures
• Monitor and manage office overhead expenses, including recurring costs and vendor payments
• Handle payments for company insurance policies and related obligations
• Track and reconcile employee credit card usage and expenses
• Maintain organized financial records and ensure accuracy across all accounts
• Assist with general administrative and office support tasks as needed

Qualifications

• Prior bookkeeping experience in the construction industry required
• Strong understanding of subcontractor billing, job costing, and client invoicing
• High level of organization and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks or similar preferred)
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Work Schedule & Location

• In-office position in Irvine, CA
• Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• Paid bank-related holidays

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $65,000 – $75,000 (based on experience and capability)
• 401(k) plan
• Health insurance
