Overview PROGRAM MANAGER Our mission of providing care to the world at a moment's notice is at the heart of everything we do. We provide end-to-end medical transportation as well as fire services, integrated healthcare solutions and disaster response. Job Summary Coordinates activities of personnel at assigned base and collaborates with the Aviation, Maintenance and Membership Departments. Essential functions include administrating the financial, marketing, growth and business aspects for the assigned base. Responsibilities Coordinates the daily base activities of the Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedics by visiting the base at least three times a week; exceptions apply for PMs with multiple bases or business activities. Collaborates with Base Pilot Supervisor for pilot activities. Ensures proper coverage for all medical shifts and secures replacement staff for all absences. Reviews electronic payroll of medical crew for accuracy and submits for approval by the deadline. Receives medically related flight problems or issues from medical crews, aviation staff, communications center staff, customers and patients; resolves issues or routes to the appropriate person. Recommends and implements changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of medical staff and base performance. Ensures proper use, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment and supplies; oversees inventory and supplies. Oversees base spending within budget and submits required reports as defined by policy. Maintains and organizes facilities; conducts monthly staff meetings with the Safety Officer, preparing an agenda and minutes for delivery to crew members and safety department. Ensures crew members follow policy for work-related injuries and exposures; submits detailed reports as requested. Collaborates with Educator and Medical Director to resolve deficiencies; collaborates with Communications Supervisor and RDBO on Communications Center issues. Reviews monthly CQI reports and refers deficiencies to appropriate Educator, Medical Director or Director of Clinical Care Services. Staff Supervision Delegates assignments and holds employees accountable for work completion. Develops crew members’ talents through professional growth, education, involvement, and decision making. Ensures licensure, certifications, and clinical requirements for medical crew. Ensures credentials are submitted to the corporate office and a copy is kept at the base. Collaborates with Base Clinical Lead (BCL) to ensure OSHA training and TB testing meet compliance. Ensures narcotic counts are completed per policy; staff documents narcotic use and reports discrepancies promptly. Interviews and hires candidates for Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedic positions; assists new employees with orientation and monitors performance with a preceptor in the transition. Prepares annual employee evaluations and carries out disciplinary actions with input from SPD, RDBO and Human Resources. Disseminates new information and resolves problems for the medical staff; performs supervisory responsibilities per company policy and law. Departmental Collaboration Participates in interviews for pilots and mechanics assigned to the base; collaborates with Base Pilot Supervisor and Base Mechanic to ensure aircraft reliability. Schedules maintenance with Base Mechanic to minimize out-of-service time and coordinates with aviation personnel as needed. Collaborates with Base Pilot Supervisor on inventory and maintenance of flight helmets assigned to the base. Marketing And Business Development Identifies and establishes strong business relationships with customers within the assigned area. Coordinates customer relations and marketing activities for base staff; ensures relationship-building visits by the Program Manager. Manages marketing supplies within budget and ensures appropriate use. Provides approval for all PR activities involving use of base aircraft; attends local and regional EMS/Hospital/advisory group meetings. Other essential functions as assigned. Qualifications Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent College degree preferred Two years of leadership experience preferred Must have a valid Driver’s License Skills Must possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with staff and present information to management, public groups, and hospital/EMS/911 agencies Strong project/task management and organizational skills Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to elicit staff involvement and apply a proactive problem-solving approach Ability to read, analyze and interpret health and flight-related journals, operational reports, and job-specific legal documents Computer literacy required Working Conditions And Physical Requirements The working conditions and physical and mental demands described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions.
