Our School
Houston Classical Charter School (“Houston Classical”) was chartered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to open in Houston in August 2020 beginning with kindergarten and first grade. The school has an accomplished and committed Board, which includes a founding Board and a Head of School. We are looking for experienced, dedicated, and motivated individuals who are excited by the challenge of being part of a new school. The Role
Houston Classical is seeking a dynamic Classical Fellow to play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our scholars! In this position, you will collaborate closely with lead teachers to co-teach, manage classroom dynamics, and deliver targeted small-group instruction. This high-expectation, immersive environment offers aspiring educators deep mentorship, rigorous skill-building, and a clear—yet earned—pathway toward potential Lead Teacher placement. Your commitment to scholar success will shine through as you provide individualized support to meet our scholars' needs. 

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with lead teachers to co-teach classrooms, enhancing the educational experience for all scholars when necessary.
• Provide individualized tutoring and targeted interventions to help scholars achieve their academic goals.
• Help develop and implement standards-aligned lessons and engaging learning activities.
• Assist with classroom management duties to maintain a positive, structured, and productive learning environment.
• Support teaching staff by maintaining regular communication with families to keep them informed and engaged in their child's progress.
• Accurately record scholar grades and attendance, ensuring all data is up-to-date and accessible.
• Perform clerical duties (typing, photocopying instructional materials, filing, reviewing homework) and assist in preparing classroom visuals/bulletin boards.
• Supervise scholars during breakfast and lunch, ensuring a safe and respectful atmosphere.
• Act as a substitute during lead teacher absences or leaves.
• Perform all other instructional and operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required (or currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree with a clear timeline to graduation).
• Experience working with scholars in testing grades preferred.
• Previous experience in educational or youth development settings preferred.
• Exhibit integrity, self-awareness, resilience, and perseverance.
• Ability to take and implement feedback swiftly.
• A strong commitment to the belief that all children can achieve their highest potential.
