Accounting Assistant

Accounting Assistant Location: Gold River, San Jose, or Burlingame Studio. Wage: $22/hour – $30/hour (dependent on experience and location). Love working with numbers? Dive into details, spreadsheets, and keeping things organized. CALA seeks an Accounting Assistant for real, hands‑on A/E Industry accounting experience (no busywork). What You Will Do Support subconsultant contracts, invoices, and billing from start to finish. Enter and organize data using Excel and accounting software (Unanet). Review, research, and help resolve invoice and vendor statement issues. Manage and organize the accounting email inbox. Communicate with subconsultants, clients, and teammates via email and phone. Assist with accounting projects and administrative tasks as needed. This role begins with a structured onboarding period of 24–30 hours per week to support training. Transition to full‑time is based on how quickly you learn, demonstrate proficiency, and meet training milestones. What You Bring (Your Superpowers) Genuine interest in numbers, accuracy, and double‑checking work. Organized, dependable, and comfortable asking questions. Confident communicator who works well independently and within a team. Experience with Excel/Sheets, or motivated to improve. Aimed to grow long‑term in an accounting role. Values doing things right, being accountable, and earning trust. Your Must‑Haves 1–2 years of experience in a professional office environment (A/E industry experience a plus). 1–2 years of college coursework preferred, especially in accounting, finance, or related fields (or currently enrolled). Experience with Microsoft Office or Google Suite, especially Excel/Sheets. Strong communication skills, collaborative mindset, and sense of humor.
