Certified Veterinary Technician Shift Lead

Role Responsibilities Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services, Optimum Wellness Plans, preventative care and pet health needs. Manage routing the flow of clients and pets to ensure superior client care and maximum productivity of the veterinary medical team. Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service at all times, including encouraging hospital visits, welcoming clients and pets, ensuring comfort and educating about pet health. Perform veterinary technician appointments under the direction and supervision of a veterinarian, in compliance with state law. Assist incoming clients by completing required documentation, entering pet information and history, using proper collars and tags, and ensuring prompt service. Assist outgoing clients by providing instructions, invoices, dispensing prescription items, selling retail products, and scheduling future appointments. Maintain accurate financial balances and proper opening and closing procedures. Serve as the extra eyes, ears, and hands for the veterinarian, ensuring quality pet care and maximizing productivity, while communicating with associates to maintain patient flow. Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain complete medical charts. Ensure safety of pets, clients, and associates by using safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and keeping treatment areas sterile and organized. Assist with surgery as applicable. Train and mentor new paraprofessional associates. Quality check medical records, home medications, regulatory documentation, hospital cleanliness, and timeliness of doctors seeing exam room patients. Utilize technical skills within state practice acts regarding the duties of credentialed veterinary technicians. Conduct administrative functions as necessary. Leadership Responsibilities Assist Practice Manager in developing an efficient, productive team that provides high‑quality care, following Banfield protocols and all laws. Support Practice Manager in hospital labor management and may assist with selection, training, and day‑to‑day supervision of the paraprofessional team. Provide effective communication between associates, clients, hospital leadership, and Central Team Support. Ensure all hospital associates adhere to Banfield dress and grooming guidelines. Prepare the team on scheduled cases, assist with transfers, and triage the treatment board. Identify potential bottlenecks and formulate solutions to remove barriers in medical operations. Confer with field leadership and assist with client resolution decisions, invoice adjustments, and client experience exceptions. Address equipment issues and assist in inventory management. Requirements Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT). Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program.
