Be a part of the Insight Chicago team that provides patient care second to none!/ph3Surgical Scheduler/h3pGeneral Summary: The Surgical Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgeries for a multispecialty outpatient surgical office, check patients out from consultations and scheduling recommendations. Responsibilities include coordinating surgical procedures with Operating Room, scheduling, and obtaining pre-operative testing, writing, and communicating surgery orders including ICD-10 and CPT codes, obtaining clearances from requested specialties, guiding patients through the surgical process and collecting necessary documentation for surgeries, scheduling recommendations from consultations including imaging, follow-ups, and lab work. This individual works closely with patients, physicians, and OR Staff to provide accurate, timely, and responsive paperwork./ppEssential Functions Principal Duties and Requirements:/pulliCoordinates, schedules surgeries, and creates follow-up appointments as designated by physicians./liliCoordinates and schedules recommendations according to consultations./liliSends outgoing referrals to appropriate facilities./liliInteracts with patients, physicians, and other staff both within the clinic and at outside facilities providing accurate, timely, and responsive information./liliCoordinates, processes, and routes all paperwork as required to meet physician and facility requirements./liliCompletes pre-certification forms including ICD-10 codes, CPT codes, and demographics./liliEnsures efficient telephone communication./liliDocuments work processes as required, including electronic and paper records./liliFollows all written protocols and procedures of the clinic./liliDemonstrates courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families./liliMust be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols./liliEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management./liliBooks surgeries based on physician volume maintaining appropriate standard turn-around times./liliIdentifies scheduling barriers and implements solutions to improve scheduling results based on predetermined goals./liliFollow established REI and surgery center/hospital precautions and procedures in the performance of all job duties to ensure a safe work environment. Adhere to policies regarding safety, confidentiality, and HIPPA guidelines./li/ulpRequired Qualifications and Skills:/pulliA High School diploma or GED is required./lili1+ years of Surgery Scheduling or related experience. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers./liliStrong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding./liliStrong knowledge of clinical/medical practice operations, procedures, terminology, and administrative procedures./liliMust be flexible and can multi-task./liliProficient in computers and relevant software applications and practice management technology./liliAbility to collaborate across departments and build effective relationships with internal and external customers to achieve goals./liliPossession of strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment/liliAbility to achieve team goals while demonstrating organizational values and utilizing resources responsibly./liliAbility to be proactive and take initiative./liliExhibit a high level of quality through attention to detail and monitoring of work./liliPossession of strong organizational skills./liliExcellent verbal and written communication, as well as, exceptional interpersonal communication skills./liliAbility to work independently on assignee tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments./liliDeals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment./li/ulpPreferred Experience:/pulliPrior Surgery Scheduling experience in a hospital setting/li/ulpWork Environment Physical Demands:/pulliWork is performed in a clinic and office setting. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods. The ability to accurately type, write, and use general office equipment is necessary. Extensive telephone communication is required.
