Purchasing Coordinator

Interstate Wire is looking for a driven, dedicated Purchasing Coordinator to join our dynamic team. As a Purchasing Coordinator at Interstate Wire, you will play a key role in sourcing and purchasing inventory, ensuring product availability, and maintaining cost efficiency across our distribution operations.

You will work closely with suppliers, warehouse teams, and other departments to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of products required to keep our distribution centers stocked and our customers served. WHAT we need you to do.

• Source and purchase inventory, products, and supplies needed to support our wholesale distribution business.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiate pricing and terms, and manage supplier performance.
• Ensure suppliers complete all required setup paperwork and comply with Interstate Wire vendor policies.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse and sales teams to ensure products are in stock when needed while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities, negotiate pricing, and implement strategies to optimize purchasing costs while maintaining product quality and availability.
• Analyze purchasing trends, supplier performance, and inventory turnover data to make informed decisions and improve the procurement process.
• Work closely with warehouse, sales, and logistics teams to ensure smooth and efficient product flow from supplier to customer.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and sustainability goals.
• Address and resolve procurement-related issues, including supply chain disruptions, stockouts, and shipping delays, to minimize disruption to customer orders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT you need to possess.

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• 3-5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within wholesale distribution or the wire and cable industry.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for managing purchasing data and reports.
• Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers and secure favorable pricing and terms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess data, evaluate supplier options, and make sound procurement decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally with warehouse, sales, and logistics teams.
• Wholesale or distribution industry experience is a plus; familiarity with wire and cable products is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs at a time.
