Cyber Capability Research Engineer

Job Overview Hybrid position at RTX Corporation in Cambridge, Massachusetts, requiring U.S. citizenship and an active Secret DoD clearance. Location: Cambridge, MA Job Type: Hybrid (onsite up to 15% travel) Responsibilities Perform advanced software development in C, emphasizing low‑level operations. Architect software and systems across diverse architectures and operating systems. Analyze systems to understand behavior and failure modes. Develop unique networking protocols and communication schemes. Operationalize code through testing, documentation, and integration with sponsor systems. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics; or advanced degree with minimum 3 years experience. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (or 3 years with advanced degree). Minimum 2 years of C programming experience. Active, transferable Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance on day one. Preferred: C++, Rust, Java, Python, or other languages. Experience with system architecture design, prototyping, and technical project leadership. Experience with assembly languages (x86/64, ARM, PPC, MIPS, etc.). Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, RF communications, BGP, etc.). OS kernel development experience (Windows, Linux, macOS, Android). Reverse engineering skills using IDA, Ghidra, BinaryNinja, etc. Capture the Flag (CTF) experience. Authored papers and proposals.
