AV Fleet Technician II
Role Overview
The AV Fleet Technician II supports autonomous vehicle fleet readiness by diagnosing and resolving documented hardware, software, connectivity, and vehicle system issues that require intermediate-level troubleshooting. This role handles escalations from AV Fleet Technician I, follows established diagnostic procedures and SOPs, performs approved repairs, and returns vehicles to service when a documented resolution is available. Complex or undocumented issues are escalated to Technician III or Fleet Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose documented sensor, harness, connector, network, and vehicle system issues using approved troubleshooting procedures.
- Perform authorized component replacements and complete post-repair validation checks to ensure vehicle readiness.
- Retrieve system logs, verify system health, execute approved diagnostic scripts, and perform documented software or firmware provisioning.
- Review assigned alerts and service tickets, documenting findings, corrective actions, and outcomes accurately.
- Support AV Fleet Technician I by providing guidance on documented troubleshooting procedures and escalating unresolved or undocumented issues appropriately.
- Follow established safety standards, technical SOPs, and quality processes throughout all maintenance and diagnostic activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid driver's license.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in hardware repair, electronics troubleshooting, automotive electronics, or a related technical field.
- Working knowledge of Linux commands for log retrieval, system status verification, and connectivity diagnostics.
- Ability to interpret diagnostic results and execute technical procedures accurately using documented SOPs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with autonomous vehicles (AV), ADAS, robotics, vehicle sensors, or automotive electronics.
- Familiarity with automotive Ethernet, FAKRA connectors, or wiring harness repair and service.
Scope and Escalation
This role independently resolves known issues using documented troubleshooting guides and approved repair procedures. New diagnostic methods or undocumented platform issues are escalated to Technician III or Fleet Engineering for further investigation.
Work Environment
This is a fully onsite role based at a warehouse, depot, or vehicle service facility. The position requires working around autonomous vehicles and technical equipment, lifting up to 40 pounds, bending and standing for extended periods, and supporting flexible schedules that may include evenings, weekends, or alternative shifts as business needs require.
