Unit 5 - CSUEU - Operations and Support Services 1 Job Search Category/Discipline Custodial/Facilities 1 Time Basis Full Time 1 Workplace Type (Exclude Inst Fac) On-site (work in-person at business location) 1 Custodian Job no: 563265 Work type: Staff Location: Dominguez Hills Categories: Unit 5 - CSUEU - Operations and Support Services, Custodial/Facilities, Probationary, Full Time, On-site (work in-person at business location) Position Description Position Summary Under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Manager, Custodial Services, the Custodians provides general cleaning and custodial care and support for assigned campus buildings, facilities, structures, and adjacent areas and/or portions thereof, including, but not limited to, campus offices, classrooms, science laboratories, art rooms, auditoriums, gymnasiums, locker rooms, health, and child care centers, student residences, patios, entryways, walkways, and workshops; participate in campus event set-up and clean up including moving bleachers; load and unload cleaning supplies and materials. **A motor vehicles such as a truck or electric cart which will require the successful candidate(s} to have a valid driver's license. **The successful candidate(s) will be required to take and pass a physical exam. In this role, Custodians play an important part in supporting the Campus Community and creating a positive experience for everyone who uses the facility. Key Responsibilities Clean and maintain assigned facilities and surrounding areas Clean and maintain assigned facilities and surrounding areas, including gymnasiums, locker rooms, offices, common areas, entryways, walkways, and other assigned spaces. Dust, damp mop, scrub, refinish, and polish various types of flooring. Clean windows, window sills, blinds, corridors, stairways, patios, entryways, and walkways. Clean and maintain restrooms and replenish restroom supplies. Empty waste containers and remove trash and recyclable materials from inside and outside assigned facilities. Safely use custodial equipment, cleaning supplies, and chemicals. Load and unload custodial supplies and materials. Lock and unlock doors and windows as necessary to help secure buildings and equipment. Assist with moving tables, chairs, furniture, and equipment. Assist with facility and campus event setup and cleanup, which may include moving bleachers and other equipment. Perform minor maintenance repairs and adjustments as assigned. Work shifts are subject to change based on campus needs. Minimum Qualifications A valid CA driver's license Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge of custodial methods, materials, chemicals, and equipment. Working knowledge of appropriate custodial safety and sanitation practices. Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions. Ability to properly use and care for custodial supplies and equipment. Ability to observe and maintain safe working conditions. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the position. Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations when required. A strong service orientation and commitment to providing a welcoming environment. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, staff, coworkers, and campus visitors. Preferred Qualifications One year of experience in custodial cleaning operations. At least one year of custodial experience working in an institution of higher education.
