Position Overview Position title: Lecturer Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. See the following table for the current salary scale for this position: Table 15. The current full-time salary range for this position is $73,817-$207,711. Salary is commensurate with prior college-level teaching experience, advanced degree(s), and related professional experience. Percent time: 17% to 33% FTE per course, depending on the number of lecture hours per week. Anticipated start: Spring semester: January 1, 2027. Summer: May - August, 2027 (depending on session). Fall semester: July 1 or August 1, 2027. Review timeline: When the school determines a need to hire a Lecturer, hiring committees review applications as follows: 2027 Spring semester = September - October 2026. 2027 Berkeley Summer Sessions = December 2026 - February 2027. 2027 Fall semester = February - April 2027. Position duration: Fall and Spring semesters: 5 months each. Summer Sessions: 3-12 weeks. The teaching includes fall and spring in-person classroom instruction and Berkeley Summer Sessions. Screening of applicants is ongoing, and the number of available positions varies throughout the year. In addition to teaching responsibilities, duties include preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), holding office/discussion hours, assessing student work and assigning grades, responding to email, maintaining a course website. Please note that the existence of a pool does not guarantee a position will be filled. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. School Division Qualifications Basic qualifications By the application date, doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD/DO) or equivalent international degree, or be enrolled in a doctoral degree program or equivalent international degree-granting program. Additional qualifications By the start date, doctoral degree, or equivalent international degree. Preferred qualifications Prior college-level teaching experience in the field of expertise. Professional work experience in the field of expertise.
