Category Computer and Information Systems Managers Description This position is located onsite in Detroit, MI Job Description The Assistant Director of Data Center Operations supports the oversight, management, and day-to-day operations of enterprise-grade data center environments to ensure high availability, reliability, and operational excellence. This role partners closely with the Director of Data Center Operations to manage critical infrastructure, coordinate maintenance and capacity planning, enforce security and compliance standards, and support incident response and disaster recovery efforts. The Assistant Director plays a key leadership role in driving operational efficiencies, supporting cross-functional teams, and ensuring data center services meet mission-critical and organizational requirements. Responsibilities Support the management and operation of data center facilities, infrastructure, and systems Assist in overseeing power, cooling, physical security, and environmental controls within the data center Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of mission-critical infrastructure Coordinate maintenance, upgrades, and capacity planning activities Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response planning Partner with IT, network, security, and cloud teams to support enterprise operations Monitor operational metrics, service levels, and infrastructure performance Support vendor management, contract coordination, and service provider oversight Assist in documenting policies, procedures, and operational standards Ensure compliance with security, safety, and regulatory requirements Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 7+ years of experience in data center operations, IT infrastructure, or facilities management Strong understanding of data center environments, including power, cooling, networking, and security Experience supporting mission-critical or high-availability systems Familiarity with IT service management frameworks (ITIL or similar) Experience in government contracting, defense, or regulated environments Experience supporting cloud-integrated or hybrid data center environments Familiarity with incident management, change management, and operational best practices Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt About the Organization Eccalon provides global solutions to the most challenging technological issues of the 21st-century, and our evolving portfolio spans five major markets: Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Aerospace & Defense, Material Sciences, Advance Manufacturing, Sports Science, Biotechnology, and Health & Life Sciences.
