Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level I/II trauma teaching hospital requiring 4+ years of experience.

Details

• Respiratory Care unit at a teaching hospital with Level I and Level II trauma experience
• Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings
• Night shift, 4x12-hour schedule, 19:00-7:00
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays with no RTO approved around Christmas
• Epic EMR experience required
• Performs ventilator management, airway management, ABG interpretation, and chest physiotherapy
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience required; candidates with 2+ years may be considered
• RRT certification required
• BLS required
• ACLS preferred
• ACCS preferred
• VA state license required if applicable; pending license accepted if candidate holds another state license to obtain temporary license before start
• BSN preferred
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Two professional references required

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care including ventilator management, airway management, and pulmonary hygiene for critically ill adult patients
• Perform medication delivery via nebulizer, MDI, and aerosol setups
• Assist with intubation, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Completes specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• Previous UVA Health staff or travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• No radius rule for this position
