Railcar Repair Technician

Job Overview Transco Rail Services, part of Marmon Holdings—a global industrial organization backed by Berkshire Hathaway—provides full‑service railcar repair and maintenance through a network of fixed shops and mobile field service teams across North America. This position is for a Railcar Repair Technician responsible for repair and maintenance of tank cars. Roles & Responsibilities Conduct railcar inspections to ensure compliance and perform necessary repairs. Use current repair procedures for railcar repair tasks. Provide customer support and meet customer expectations for quality and timeliness. Maintain invoicing, inspection and work order information accurately. Maintain all required certifications and demonstrate strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations. Perform welding repairs and other assigned work‑related tasks. General Requirements High school diploma or GED. Mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving skills and decision‑making ability. Proficiency with hand tools (pipe wrenches, pry bars, wrenches, ratchets, etc.). Welding experience is a plus. Ability to handle and complete basic railcar repairs and inspections. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team. Commitment to safety and adherence to proper procedures. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Valid driver’s license. Physical Requirements Stooping for extended periods and moving from kneeling to standing positions. Wearing a respirator. Lifting up to 50 pounds from the ground. Climbing ladders and working at elevated heights. Working in confined spaces. Pass company physical exam. Travel Requires traveling to customer sites with a company vehicle, most travel within shift, with occasional overnight stays.
