Residential Counselor

Position Teacher/Counselor (Residential Counselor) Job ID 532 Location Norwood Shift 56 hours - Thursday 1pm to 9am, Friday 2pm to 10pm, Saturday 12pm to 9am, Sunday 9am to 4pm Role Overview This role supports women in a residential setting and involves providing hands‑on personal care, emotional support, and daily living assistance in a trauma‑informed, dignity‑centered environment. This position is assigned to a single‑gender residential program and requires compliance with same‑gender staffing guidelines. Responsibilities Promotes optimal health for individuals through routine, preventive, and emergency health care. Assists with all hands‑on direct care, including showering, toileting, shaving, brushing teeth, and meal‑time assistance. Ensures that residential environments are safe, secure, and free from harm. Provides education, training, counseling, and physical assistance to achieve ISP goals in functional academics, domestic skills, health and personal hygiene, social and leisure skills, communication skills, community mobility, self‑esteem, and money management. Develops, writes, and presents annual ISPs and semi‑annual assessments in consultation with other residential staff and directors. Provides transportation to individuals as necessary. Communicates with persons significant to the individual served (family, friends, guardians, funding sources, advocates, volunteers, employers) to facilitate consistency of programming and support. Performs case management duties, including maintenance of confidential files, case reviews, documentation of activities, and training, and attends regular meetings as necessary. Requirements Experience working with individuals with ID/DD. A Bachelor’s degree or an associate degree in a related field with two years of experience, or an HS diploma and five years of related work experience in Human Services. Must be able to pass Fingerprint background check, CORI, DPPC, and Driving background checks. Valid Driver’s License required. Valid MAP certification preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
