Production Planner / Order Writer

Location: Corona, CA
Pay: $22.00/hour starting
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Job Type: Full-Time

About the Opportunity

EFP Staffing is currently seeking a Production Planner / Order Writer for a well-established metals industry company in Corona, CA.

This position is part of the Planning Department and plays an important role in coordinating customer orders and production requirements from order entry through completion. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Order Writing & Project Coordination

• Review customer and project requirements and coordinate with Project Managers to understand scope, timelines, and deliverables.
• Prepare accurate and detailed work orders, outside processing orders, and purchase orders.
• Ensure orders include correct specifications, quantities, dimensions, material requirements, and delivery dates.
• Monitor project and order progress and make adjustments as needed to support deadlines.
• Communicate order requirements and changes with suppliers and internal departments.

Customer & Contract Review

• Review customer purchase orders and contractual requirements before creating work orders and purchase orders.
• Ensure orders meet customer specifications and applicable contractual requirements.
• Support compliance with Aerospace AS9100 requirements when applicable.
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance when clarification or additional review is needed.

Order Prioritization & Expediting

• Prioritize orders based on customer due dates and project requirements.
• Manage and prioritize critical and government-rated orders to support on-time delivery.
• Coordinate with internal departments to expedite orders when necessary.
• Respond quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.

Inventory & Material Coordination

• Communicate with the Inventory Team regarding stock availability and material allocation.
• Help determine the best use of available inventory to meet project requirements.
• Coordinate material needs with Procurement and other applicable departments.

Warehouse & Quality Coordination

• Communicate with Warehouse and Quality Assurance regarding order status and project deliverables.
• Help ensure products meet company standards, customer specifications, and quality requirements.
• Identify order discrepancies or issues and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.

Sales & Customer Delivery Support

• Communicate with Sales regarding revised completion dates, material lead times, and changes that may affect customer delivery schedules.
• Provide timely updates regarding order status and potential schedule changes.

Supplier & Cross-Functional Communication

• Work closely with suppliers to clarify order requirements and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Logistics, Inventory, Warehouse, Quality Assurance, Sales, and Finance.
• Serve as a point of contact for project-related order questions and issues.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, cut plans, correspondence, order records, and mill test reports.
• Generate project status and open-order reports as needed.
• Track project and order performance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Maintain organized records to support company requirements and traceability.

Measurements & Basic Math

• Calculate inches, feet, net weight, and gross weight as required.
• Perform unit conversions, including inches to feet and pounds to kilograms.
• Perform accurate mathematical calculations related to material planning and order preparation.

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Follow company safety policies, procedures, training requirements, and workplace safety regulations.
• Follow required PPE and safety procedures when entering warehouse, shop, production, or operational areas.
• Report unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, injuries, or near misses to management.
• Promote safe work practices throughout daily planning and cross-functional activities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in production planning, order writing, order processing, manufacturing coordination, purchasing, or a similar role preferred.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word .
• Experience with Google Sheets preferred.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple departments.
• Strong basic math skills, including measurements, unit conversions, and weight calculations.
• Working knowledge of supply chain or procurement processes is a plus.
• Familiarity with Aerospace AS9100 requirements is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
