1st Shift Production Supervisor

Job Summary: The Production Department Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation of its department consistent with cost, profit and production goals. It is responsible for the training and development of its employees, using experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The role requires creativity, latitude, and works under the supervision of a manager to develop methods and assist in their implementation to achieve departmental plans and goals. Key Responsibilities Manage the production operation across multiple departments and shifts. Lead and motivate a group of employees to achieve maximum productivity. Identify, research, and resolve various problems and opportunities. Evaluate performance of individuals and programs. Coach and counsel employees. Ensure activities comply with UFP policies, procedures, and applicable law. Communicate with employees and other management as required. Manage cost and profitability of the department. Manage department inventory. Lead continuous improvement and safety initiatives. Prepare reports and maintain records as required. Participate in the Safety Committee and ensure compliance with safety standards. Perform other duties as required, including hazardous material handling procedures when assigned to the Treating Department. Operate forklifts to move material to and from the production area. Qualifications High school education required. Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing. 1 to 3 years of experience managing people. Demonstrated ability to set up and manage agendas, ensuring clear timeframes and effective use of visual aids. Strong communication skills, including clear and precise speaking, engaging listeners, and asking pertinent questions. Proficiency in operating Inside UFPI, with a thorough understanding of available resources, UFP policy training, and main page navigation. Proficient in searching topics, using Citrix, and maintaining email etiquette, with strong timing and deadline management. Expertise in the Precise Plant Quality Program, including quality requirements communication, training, and troubleshooting quality issues. Attention to detail, reporting and checking for accuracy, and implementation of double-check systems. Ability to maintain a routine for day-to-day work while remaining organized during flexible periods. Effective daily communication with employees, holding them accountable, and using various communication methods to convey production expectations. Commitment to safety, understanding and adhering to the UFP safety priority, and collaborating with safety leaders on JDA’s and JSA’s. Proper training in conducting machine audits, LOTO importance, and implementing safety improvements. Knowledge of continuous improvement (CI) principles, including 5S and TPM, and the ability to communicate their importance. Technical knowledge of machinery and equipment, including proper training, understanding machine purposes, documenting training, and developing relationships with maintenance staff. Strong understanding of preventative maintenance and standard work instructions. Ability to provide daily feedback and communication, identify potential advancement based on performance, and conduct employee reviews. Understanding the importance of training employees, effective communication during training, and emphasis on safety and safeguards.
