Senior Research Services Business Analyst

Overview Brown University is a leading research university that values student‑centered learning and a purpose‑driven mission. As a senior member of the Research Administration Information Systems (RAIS) team, the Senior Research Services Business Analyst leads the long‑term health, architectural integrity, and strategic evolution of the university’s electronic research administration systems. Key Responsibilities Architect and manage the planning, design, and lifecycle of enterprise‑level research applications, ensuring scalability, security, and institutional alignment. Lead comprehensive feasibility studies and impact analyses for new system adoptions, providing executive‑level recommendations to the Vice President for Research. Design and govern the research system training strategy for a user community of more than 600, ensuring technical competency across the organization. Serve as the primary RAIS representative in high‑stakes collaborations with Workday Operations, OIT, and external federal auditors. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 3‑5 years of progressive experience in business analysis, research administration, or enterprise system management. Experience working with complex ERP or enterprise research systems such as Coeus, InfoEd, Workday, or Huron. Proven track record managing large‑scale ERP or eRA implementations. Expert‑level SQL skills and experience with advanced data visualization/reporting tools (e.g., Cognos, Tableau). Experience in a high‑volume, Tier‑1 research environment. Experience with data warehouse design and report writing. Job Competencies Accurate mapping of complex business processes and ERP information architecture. Exceptional attention to detail to ensure error‑free system configurations and process maps. Critical thinking to proactively mitigate risks and anticipate system bottlenecks. Strong written and oral communication skills, translating technical jargon into layman’s terms for diverse audiences. Leadership of group activities, workshops, and project meetings. Ability to build consensus among stakeholders with competing priorities. Adaptability to fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environments and managing multiple high‑priority projects simultaneously. High level of self‑motivation and professional judgment with minimal supervision.
