This position requires prior cardiovascular critical care experience. Responsibilities include caring for patients recovering from CV surgery and managing overflow medical cardiology patients. The patient population includes those with diagnoses such as heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block. The unit features 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds and typically has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5. Staff interactions are key as teamwork is emphasized in a fast-paced environment. Preferred candidates will have experience with cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery populations, including open heart and TAVR procedures. The role also involves managing medications and equipment such as IV pumps and cardiac drips. Candidates should be flexible and adaptable, able to meet the demands of a busy unit. Weekend requirements include a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period. No on-call coverage is required.
