Candidates will care for adult patients and may need to assist with pediatric patients in the emergency department. The therapist will perform arterial and capillary blood gas tests in intensive care units. Coverage for the electrocardiogram department may be required during the night. The respiratory therapist will assist with intubation procedures and may place laryngeal airways in emergency situations. There will be a RT system director, a manager, and a supervisor on site for support. The shifts consist of three 12-hour days, typically scheduled from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Weekend work is required on a rotating basis. Holidays will also be part of the duty schedule on an alternating basis. Although call requirements are not standard, off-shift call needs may arise occasionally. The response time for calls is one hour. Colors for scrubs are flexible, with a strong emphasis on supportive footwear. Respiratory equipment may include various ventilators, non-invasive and high-flow oxygen systems, and other respiratory aids. Intensivists will be available in the ICU around the clock. Clinicians will clock in and out during their shifts.
