Transportation Supervisor

Performs supervisory support for the Transportation Department ensuring effective communication with drivers, parents, and citizens. This position is responsible for assisting in training, supervising, and coordinating transportation routing activities while providing a variety of administrative assistant duties, and related work as apparent or assigned. The role involves supervising drivers, managing routes and schedules, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and assisting with coordinating vehicle maintenance. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Director of Transportation. Designated essential personnel are required to work during times when the schools are closed. By virtue of their job description, essential personnel provide services that are essential to the health, welfare and safety of the NKCPS employees. This job requires a CDL and the employee must maintain a good driving record at all times.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred: or education, certification, training, or experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Prefer to have a minimum of three years of experience in a management / supervisory role in school bus operations with a Class B, w/ Passenger and School Bus Endorsements (or able to obtain one within 3 months of hire); has the ability to plan, organize, create routes, and able to work in a fast-paced stressful environment, Strong leadership, organization, problem-solving skills, ability to respond to emergencies, and work flexible hours as needed; Must be able to demonstrate and must hold a valid operator's license with proper endorsements to operate a school bus in the state of Virginia.
