Molecular Virology Research Scientist

Summary: Conducts laboratory research focused on viral structure, replication, and interaction with host cells in support of vaccine and therapeutic development. Responsibilities Conduct viral infection assays in cell culture models. Analyze virus-host interactions and gene expression profiles. Support assay optimization for drug screening. Maintain experimental records and laboratory inventory. Work in BSL-3/4 conditions as required. The contractor will be expected to execute their assigned tasks, and to share their findings with other members of the project team. The Contractor is expected to write reports and publications, and present their findings in meetings. Necessary Skills and Knowledge Skilled in PCR, transfection, and microscopy. Knowledge of host-pathogen interface. Excellent attention to detail in data recording. shall be knowledgeable in a relevant field of the life sciences. The contractor shall have demonstrated their potential ability to independently plan, execute, analyze, and report on their research through their graduate dissertation. Possesses good written and oral communication skills. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in virology, biology, or biomedical sciences. Minimum 2+ years in virology or related biological sciences. Experience in viral propagation and tittering methods. A ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance eligibility, with no access to classified information, is required. Enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required. Preferred Qualifications ACTIVE SECRET is preferred Master's degree preferred Pay and Benefits The annual salary range for this position is $86,000 - $112,000.
