Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - ACLS - BLS - NIHSS - Neuro and Trauma care experience Description: Progressive Care Unit information includes 44 beds. There is a team of 95 staff members on this unit. Day shift staffing includes 2 CNC/Charge RNs, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC. Night shift staffing includes 2 CNC/Charge RNs, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC. Patient ratios are 4:1 on grid and can stretch to 5:1. Typical equipment includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pump, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Typical procedures performed in this unit include neuro and spinal checks. C-Collar placement and TLSO brace application are also performed. Chest tube management, PCA pump usage, and IV infusions are common. Lumber drain insertions and feeding tube placements are included. Blood transfusions are performed as needed. The best personality fit for this role is a team player and patient-focused individual. Candidates should be prepared to float to step-down and med-surg units. Weekends may be required every other weekend.
