As a Procurement Transplant Coordinator (PTC‑II), you will provide primary medical care to authorized organ donors in hospital intensive care units and OneLegacy recovery facilities. The care involves managing hemodynamics and pulmonary function to secure perfusion and oxygenation for lifesaving organs. Job Type: Full‑time, non‑exempt Work Hours: 12‑hour shifts; 7 days in a two‑week period, including alternating weekends. Nights. Work Setting: In‑person and Donor Service Area Location: Employees may be assigned to a base office in Azusa, El Segundo, Redlands, Orange, or Mission Hills. Travel: Employees are required to travel within the service area. Summary Of Functions The Procurement Transplant Coordinator (PTC‑II) is the clinical professional responsible for all aspects of the organ procurement process at a hospital within OneLegacy’s DSA and at a OneLegacy Recovery Center. Responsibilities include assisting hospitals to identify and report potential donor referrals, managing the organ recovery procedure, reinforcing donation processes as outlined in the UAGA, providing direct medical donor care, supporting psychosocial needs of donor families, and handling administrative, training, and regulatory duties. Duties And Responsibilities Essential Job Functions Referral Management Process Respond promptly to potential donor referrals to assess suitability and enhance the donation process. Establish and enhance relationships with hospital staff to increase referral activity. Introduce oneself to the referring patient’s bedside nurse and charge nurse, maintaining presence and ensuring coordination. Collaborate with the RTS, CRS, SOP, Medical Director of Referral Management, and other clinical leaders to manage active referrals. Access and review noting hospital records, transcribe relevant data to digitalMATCH fields per OneLegacy policies. Consult with staff to evaluate organ function and identify early stages of derangement. Develop treatment plans in direction with the Medical Director of Referral Management, advocating for interventions to preserve donation opportunities. Provide written and oral reports to attending physicians, transplant physicians, Medical Directors, consulting intensivists, and CRS regarding donor status and care. Develop and communicate continuity of care plans throughout referral progression. Review liver brain‑death documentation for completeness, provide guidance on corrections, and send documentation to RTS and CRS for verification. Perform administrative duties such as digitalDONOR charting and any other required documentation. Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and quality assurance protocols, reporting findings to relevant stakeholders. Family Support Process Identify authorizing parties and language requirements, documenting necessary family dynamics. Collaborate with the hospital care team, RTS, and Family Care Specialist Resources during end‑of‑life discussions. Discuss authorization elements with the authorizing party or family members. Obtain donation authorization per UAGA and verify required medical‑legal documentation. Complete Donor Risk Assessment Interview and obtain follow‑up information. Organ Donation Process Respond to donor referrals or assigned donor cases at shift start. Obtain accurate medical information and evaluate potential donors per OneLegacy, regulatory, and credentialing guidelines. Support the donation process with family members or authorizing parties. Coordinate donor management aspects. Ensure accurate and complete charting in hospital and OneLegacy EMR systems. Collaborate with Medical Examiner/Coroner, tissue recovery staff, hospital staff, social services, and clergy. Coordinate logistics for multiple organ procurements and allocation cases; maintain communication with Donor Allocation Coordinator. Verify all required medical‑legal documentation is completed per OneLegacy guidelines. Provide donor information to organ allocation staff as needed. Handle all chart documentation in the OR during recovery, including review and completion of the Confidential Donor File at case conclusion. Donation Development Process Review Not Brain‑Dead status board (NBD) and conduct site visits for active referrals. Participate in “Presence with a Purpose” and coordinate education on donation and transplantation with the DDC. Coordinate and conduct scheduled education on donation in partnership with the DDC. Participate in OneLegacy signature events such as the Donation and Transplantation Symposium and Donate Life RunWalk. Promote positive relationships with hospital and clinical staff. Participate in hospital meetings to address donation process issues. Engage in hospital‑sponsored rounds and other case‑finding activities. Debrief the Donation Development Coordinator after a case. Provide clinical consultation for meeting preparation and reports. OneLegacy Recovery Center Responsibilities The PTC‑II will maintain proficiency and competency in all organ operations at OneLegacy’s Recovery Center, per Appendix A. Personnel Functions Always maintain professional conduct with internal and external customers. Cooperate with other personnel to achieve company objectives and maintain good employee, inter‑departmental, and public relations. Meet with and seek advice from the Medical Directors, Director of Organ Clinical Operations, supervisors, and other clinical staff concerning donor patient care. Maintain effective and friendly working relationships with health professionals, physicians, consultants, and families involved in every donation process. Work Schedule Responsibility Share schedule responsibility with other assigned PTCs (seven 12‑hour shifts per pay period every two weeks). Additional work time and shifts may be assigned as needed to uphold OneLegacy’s mission. Travel within the Donor Service Area to respond to referral/donor cases or other business. Provide verbal report to incoming OneLegacy staff upon assignment completion. Carry OneLegacy issued electronic devices and case materials, ensuring all equipment functions properly. Ensure location services function properly on devices during scheduled shifts. Other Responsibilities Maintain professional competence through required certification or licensure. Comply with all UNOS policies, standards, and requirements. Attend staff meetings and scheduled trainings unless on call, post‑call, or on protected time. Support OneLegacy’s Standards of Professional Conduct and exemplify the mission, vision, and values. Observe a code of ethics that requires truthfulness, honesty, and integrity. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications And Requirements Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing/RN program, current RN license (Bachelor’s degree preferred). Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Critical Care, ICU and/or ER experience required. Certificate/License: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required at time of employment; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within orientation period. Salary Range: $141,974.56 – $156,549.12 (general guideline; final offer based on scope of responsibilities and candidate experience).
