Assistant Museum Collections Registrar

The University Museum at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville welcomes applicants for the position of Assistant Museum Collections Registrar. The SIUE Museum is a repository and interpretive center whose collections include more than 40,000 two- and three-dimensional objects of fine art, architecture, history, ethnology, archaeology, and the natural sciences. Reporting to the Executive Curator, the position is responsible for the accurate execution of registration functions for the museum’s collections in accordance with established museum policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in anthropology, museum studies, art history, history, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience working in a registration or collections management position working with museum collections database systems (e.g., PastPerfect, TMS, or similar).
• Excellent organizational skills, problem solving skills, follow-through, and attention to detail and accuracy.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move artworks and materials (up to 40lbs.).
• Work may involve frequent bending, squatting, stooping, climbing, and sitting and standing for prolonged periods, sometimes at heights or while on ladders.
• Possess basic skills in tools used for packing, unpacking, and installation of artwork.
• Manual dexterity for safe object handling.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
