Restaurant General Manager

Location: Long Beach, NJ

We are seeking an experienced and driven Restaurant General Manager to lead the daily operations of a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant in Long Beach, NJ. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on hospitality leader who understands how to build strong teams, deliver exceptional guest experiences, and drive sales and profitability.

The General Manager will have overall responsibility for the restaurant's operation, including team leadership, guest service, financial performance, staffing, training, food quality, and operational standards. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, and comfortable leading a team in a busy and demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
• Lead, coach, and develop managers and hourly team members.
• Create a positive, accountable, and team-oriented restaurant culture.
• Ensure consistently high standards for food quality, service, cleanliness, and hospitality.
• Drive sales and profitability through strong operational execution and guest engagement.
• Manage labor costs, food costs, inventory, waste, and other controllable expenses.
• Review and manage P&L performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop staffing plans, schedules, and shift assignments based on business needs.
• Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and retain top-performing team members.
• Conduct regular training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Maintain strong relationships with employees and address performance issues professionally and effectively.
• Ensure compliance with health department, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
• Monitor inventory levels, ordering, receiving, product rotation, and storage procedures.
• Ensure proper cash handling, opening, closing, and security procedures.
• Handle guest concerns and resolve issues quickly and professionally.
• Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate daily goals, expectations, and operational priorities.
• Work closely with the kitchen team to maintain food quality, consistency, and ticket-time standards.
• Support local marketing, community involvement, and promotional initiatives.
• Analyze restaurant performance and implement action plans to improve results.
• Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and well-maintained restaurant.
• Lead by example and remain hands-on during busy service periods.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of restaurant management experience, preferably in a high-volume full-service, fast-casual, or QSR environment.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
• Strong understanding of restaurant P&L, labor, food cost, and inventory management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong guest-service mindset with a passion for hospitality.
• Experience with recruiting, scheduling, training, and employee retention.
• Highly organized, dependable, and results-oriented.
• Comfortable working evenings, weekends, holidays, and during peak seasonal periods.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on restaurant leader who thrives in a high-energy environment and knows how to motivate a team while maintaining high operational standards. You should be equally comfortable reviewing a P&L, coaching a manager, speaking with guests, or jumping into service when the restaurant gets busy.

Experience in a seasonal or high-volume Jersey Shore market is a plus, as is a strong understanding of the increased staffing, sales, and operational demands that come with peak summer business.
